Preparing for a concert demands the control in many small items which create the whole "picture".

Here you have a table showing the necessary steps in order for playing a musical piece - each and every step depends on the one before it and on the one after it.

Musical Piece

General:

  • Tuning the guitar

  • Taking care of your nails

  • Checking the "condition" of the guitar strings

Theory Understanding:

  • Musical Era (Baroque, Classical...)

  • Style of the piece (A dance..., An atmosphere or a piece with no specific name)

  • The Scale (C Major, e minor...)

  • Time values (3/4, 6/8...)

  • Tempo (Allegro, Moderato...)

  • Atmosphere (Dolce, Maestoso...)

  • Dynamics (Piano, Forte...)

  • Musical Sentences...

Technical Understanding:

  • Seating in a comfortable position (Back, Shoulders and footstool...)

  • Right hand fingerings (Positions and using fingers P i m a...)

  •  Left hand fingerings (Position - I, IV..., using fingers 1234...)

Playing (Performance):

  • Make sure you play the right notes

  • Playing a single bar each time

  • Connecting Bars together

  • Playing musical sentences and "breathing"

  • Playing fluently all the piece with no stops!!! like in a real concert.
